The head gardener of the private Fittleworth House (1720), Mark Saunders, will be giving a talk to CGS in October, "A Head Gardener's Year". Â We will be seeing that 3 acre National Gardens Scheme private garden, Â and meeting Mark, on this trip. Â After coffee and biscuits, Â Mark will give a guided tour and explain the thoughts behind the design of the garden and its history. Â Bring a packed lunch which can be eaten in the garden.
We leave Fittleworth at about 1.00pm to drive 20 minutes to Woolbeding gardens (NT), Midhurst, a 30 acre "horticultural haven" with elegant garden rooms, meticulous borders and dramatic follies all in a wooded landscape. Â Â The self-guided tour will start with an introductory talk from one of the gardening team. There is a cafe for tea and light snacks. Â We leave Woolbeding about 4.30pm, returning to Claygate about 6.00pm.
Total cost, based, on 20 people (Maximum 25): National Trust members: £33.  Non-NT members : £45.  NT members MUST bring their membership cards or will be charged for entry to Woolbeding. There will be no refunds but tickets are transferrable to other CGS members.
If booking for more than one member, please give us the other name too. All tickets must be in the name of CGS or CAHA members.
