The head gardener of the private Fittleworth House (1720), Mark Saunders, will be giving a talk to CGS in October, "A Head Gardener's Year".  We will be seeing that 3 acre National Gardens Scheme private garden,  and meeting Mark, on this trip.  After coffee and biscuits,  Mark will give a guided tour and explain the thoughts behind the design of the garden and its history.  Bring a packed lunch which can be eaten in the garden.

We leave Fittleworth at about 1.00pm to drive 20 minutes to Woolbeding gardens (NT), Midhurst, a 30 acre "horticultural haven" with elegant garden rooms, meticulous borders and dramatic follies all in a wooded landscape.   The self-guided tour will start with an introductory talk from one of the gardening team.
