How do I join?

How long is membership for? 

1 calendar year from Jan 1 to Dec 31

Can I join before the next year? 

Yes, early bird membership for the next year is open July-November

How do I get my membership card? In order to be a CGS member you must either pay CGS dues (here)

 

Once we have your dues you will need to complete your membership form. You may access all CGS services once dues are paid but will not receive a membership card until we have your form.

What happens when I pay online?

Our website uses SumUp to process payments, if these do not go through please try again.

 

When you have paid online you will recieve a confirmation email with an order number - please save this number for reference.

Can I pay by cash or cheque? We would prefer not to as it makes end of year accounts difficult and requires extra effort from a small group of volunteers, but if you have to please let us know in advance or do so at a talk.

 

How do I add my Digital card to my phone?

 

They will be sent to all members who have paid dues and completed the membership forms by email on the thursday after joining (unless it is a busy period, when there may be a delay).

For anyone who has purchased early for the next year (between Jul-Nov) cards will be sent after the AGM and before December.

 

Please be aware you will need an iPhone6 or above for the Apple Wallet to work.

 

How to add my Apple/iOS Digital card?

  1. Open attachment

  2. Select Add (top right)

  3. Card will be added to Apple Wallet)

 

 

To access your card for talks and discounts open the Apple Wallet app on your phone and click on the card.

 

How to add my an Google/Android Digital card?

  1. Click on the link in the email

  2. Select Add (bottom)

  3. Card will be added to Google Wallet

  4. You may be asked to download Google Wallet (we highly recommend this)

How to access/use my digital membership card? To access your card for talks and discounts open the Google or Appl eWallet app on your phone (search 'wallet') and click on the card.

 

Can I have a Physical membership card? Yes, these are still available but not by default - they must purchased at renewal or as a new member, or as a replacement . 2024 physical cards are no longer available. Early bird 2025 physical cards will be available after the AGM for collection at Ecocentric US, at 8 The Parade, from 1200 on the Friday after the request is made ( if not there please let us know, there may be a delay if we are unavailable, sick or there have been issues in creating the cards)

 

What is a the grid image on my cards? The new digital cards and Physical cards will have a 'QR' code on them - this is an advanced barcode. A QR code (short for Quick Response code) is an array of black and white squares or pixels set in a grid that stores data for a machine to read. A smartphone or camera can quickly process the information contained in a QR code's specific arrangement of pixels, making it a convenient way to store and access data.

 

The QR code on your card holds your membership number and name only.

 

NOTE: It is not necessary for any of the nurseries/stores to scan this code, it has been included to help speed up sign in at CGS talks, and potentially the Depot

 

I've joined but can't find my card, If you have provided your membership form you will have been sent the card.

Check your spam or junk mail for your joining email which will be from info@claygate-gardening.org. Please add our email address to your contacts.

If not in your spam we have your wrong email address, in which case  you can contact us below.

I'm having trouble adding my digital card. There are currently no issues with adding digital cards which we are aware of. However, if you have an old iPhone (pre iphone 6) the pass system will not work. Check/trouble shoot using the advice below. 

I was a member last year and have rejoined but cannot access the members area: Adding you as a member to the members area is a manual process. If renewing your access will be returned, enabling your existing login, as soon as your membership is processed. If you are a new member you will be invited to join the members area during the processing period. Members area access is only available during your membership period. It will cease on 1-Jan (next membership year) unless you have renewed in advance of the new year.

2025 Membership Card Issues

Before submitting please note we are aware of a number of issues that have a very quick fix.


1) I have paid for membership but not received my card

Action: Have you submitted your membership form?

Action: Check Junk or Spam

Action: Add CGS emails to your contacts list


2) My Physical card is not available

Action: Please confirm you paid for a physical card (check your email for your order details)

Action: Have you submitted your membership form?


4) I have a blue Google wallet card with a name that is not mine.

Action: Blue 2024 cards are not valid from Dec 31 (regardless of name shown) if you have not got a pink card we may be pending your renewal or your membership form.


5) I cannot add my Apple card.

Action: If you received your membership card between Feb and April 13 - this may mean there was an issue in adding your Apple card - a new card was issued to all affected members on April 13. Please check you email. If you still have this issue after April 13, or cannot find the email please reach out below
