About the event

The Savill Garden and Valley Gardens.

The Savill Garden was commissioned by George V, created by Eric Savill in 1932 and updated in 2006.  It is a natural haven of 35 acres of interconnecting gardens and woodland.  Highlights include the original Weeping Willow tree, the award-winning Queen Elizabeth Temperate House, the Golden Jubilee Cottage Garden, the Rose Garden and the New Zealand Garden.  In May, you can expect to see dazzling displays of trilliums, erythroniums, primulas and azaleas. The Valley Gardens are a 250-acre flowering woodland, spread over twisting paths and rolling hills.  A must-see is the ‘punch bowl’ filled with National Collections of azaleas and rhododendrons.

On arrival at approximately 10.30am we will have a brief "meet & greet” orientation.  Our guide will then join us on our coach for a one-hour tour through Windsor Great Park to visit the Valley Gardens before lunch.  This can be purchased at the Savill Garden Kitchen, or bring your own.  After the lunch break (about 1.45pm), an expert guide will take us on a one-hour walking tour of the Savill Garden.  There will then be the opportunity to further explore the Savill gardens at your leisure, visit the Gift Shop & Plant Centre or have afternoon tea in the Savill Garden Kitchen.  The provisional cost, based on 25 participants (the maximum permitted), was £40.  We currently have only 21 so the per head cost has had to be increased tob £46.50
